The objectives of the YAFCAD HNP


The Youth Association For Conservation And Development in Hemis National Park is located in Ladakh - Jammu & Kashmir (India). Its objectives are given by the following Constitution:

1- Promote approaches to tourism which do minimum damage to wild life Biodiversity environment and culture in Hemis National Park (HNP) and which deliver economic benefits and communities within the HNP.

2- Promote economic opportunities for young people in Tourism, Handicraft, Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Education, Health and supporting marketing of local product.

3- Conserve and preserve local monuments (religious and secular) as well as areas of scientific interest and beauty spots.

4- Raise awareness of the need to conserve the unique biodiversity ecosystem and culture of the HNP so as to involve communities especially young people in all aspects of conservation in the park.

5- Promote and support research into biodiversity culture and the ecology, economy of the HNP.

6- Purely welfare non profiting and non political association.

7- In order to carry out these activities, the association raise funds from Government, from NGO, Institution and from individuals and spend such funds in partnership with the donor and communities.

In addition, the association, with the communities, advocates for Govt. funding for schemes which promote and support the aims and objectives of the association.


Organisation


The YAFCAD HNP is divided into 7 divisions, each responsible of a specific topic: culture and heritage, energy, wastes, home-stays, agriculture, health and education.
